Hi Jensen,
Thank you for your interest in Dynatek ignitions. The DS6-1 requires a mechanical advancer for complete installation on later model Evolution and Sportster engines. Since the Dyna S is a completely self contained ignition system it will bypass the OEM ignition module and connect directly to the coil as shown in the installation guide.
