If you have a Power Vision that has been ?married? to one Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and would like to tune an additional bike(s), you would generally want to purchase and apply a PV Tune License. A tune license will allow the PV to retain the ability to tune the original bike that the unit is married to, and will also allow you to tune an additional bike. You can add as many tune licenses to a PV, to tune as many additional motorcycles, as desired, as long as you purchase and apply a license for each additional bike. A PV will ?remember? those bikes as well. So, if a licensed bike needs another adjustment, the license does NOT have to be reapplied to that PV. Unfortunately, due to CARB and EPA requirements, this is not available to customers in California.
The process for getting tune licenses is fairly simple, and can be done by the end user 24/7. The licenses cost $199.99 USD each.
To get started, you will want to create an account in our system. It is with this account that you would purchase tune license ?credits?. Once you have your account created, purchasing the tune license credit is as easy as any other online purchase. Once you have purchased a tune license credit(s), you are ready to generate your license. Attached to this email is a document that will walk you thru the process of getting the necessary information from the bike to be tuned, how to turn that credit into an actual license, and how to apply that license to the PV. Once applied to the PV, you can tune that bike AND the bike the PV was originally married to, as often as needed.
There is an additional option for tuning a bike with a previously married PV. If you need the ability to tune a bike, and do NOT need to retain the ability to retune any previously tuned motorcycle(s), you can get an Unlock license. An unlock license is also $199.99 (not available to customers in California). This type of license would wipe the PV completely clear of all previously tuned motorcycles and allow it to be married, like new, to another bike. We generate the unlock licenses here, in-house. If you think that this would be the way to go, in order to generate that license, we will need the FULL 16-character serial number from the PV itself.
Tune licenses vs Unlock licenses:
An unlock license will wipe out all previous licenses and allow the PV to be married to a bike again, as if it were new and being married for the first time. When a PV is married to a bike, it automatically saves a copy of whatever tune is in the ECM at that time. This is what we refer to as "built in tuning ability". If, by chance, anything ever happens to the PV itself, it is lost, broken or stolen, the ability to tune that bike is lost.
A tune license allows you to do ALL of the same tuning functions as if the PV was married to that bike, except it does NOT automatically save the original tune. If desired, this tune can be read and saved to the device, manually, before flashing a tune to the ECM. One of the benefits of using a tune license is that you get an actual license file. It is a very small text file. That license can be applied to any PV on the planet, and once applied, that PV would have the ability to tune the bike. If the PV is lost, broken or stolen, even if you obtained another used PV, the license could be applied and you have NOT completely lost the tuning ability.
